Living with it
A Boston fern will tell you exactly how it feels: crispy tips mean the air is too dry. It evolved in humid forests, so a centrally-heated living room can feel like a desert to it.
The fix is easy — a bright bathroom, a pebble tray, or a weekly misting. Keep the soil evenly moist (never soggy) and it rewards you with a fountain of fresh fronds. Completely non-toxic, which is why it’s our default recommendation for homes with cats.
