Living with it
The leaves are the whole point: teardrop shapes striped in silver and deep green, exactly like a watermelon skin, on cheerful red stems. It stays small, so it’s perfect for a desk or a crowded shelf.
It stores a little water in those thick leaves, so it’s far more forgiving than it looks — medium light, a drink when the top inch dries, and it’s happy. Non-toxic and compact: the plant we hand to first-time plant parents with kids or cats.
